. #13. I installed an unmodified 9" rear out of a 68 Cobra Jet Mustang into my 66 Fastback. The spring perches are a perfect fit. However, all 67->up 8" and 9" rears have a slightly larger tube dia at the spring perches than the 65/66 Mustangs. This means you need larger U-bolts (2 7/8") and spring/shock plates from a 67->up Mustang.
The327 Camaro was a stronger motor than the 225 horse Mustang, even though the Mustang was 300 pounds lighter. Mustang was 9.8 seconds to 60, Camaro was 9.1 or so. Mustang had the best build quality (very "solid") and most pleasant interior, the others were a bit more on the tacky and cheap side.
